December 2014 Consumer Reports: Holiday Shopping, Coffee and Winter Driving Tips

Many people will either give or receive an electronic item this holiday season. If you're one of them, check out "The Great Electronics Gift Guide" in the December issue of Consumer Reports.  The guide includes reviews and ratings for TVs, streaming media players, tablets, laptops, cameras, and headphones.

Before going out to shop for gifts, check out the "Seven Commandments of Holiday Shopping." They might help you avoid the temptation to spend too much during the holidays!

Do you like coffee and/or wine?  "The New Rules for Coffee and Wine Drinkers" provides the scoop on which are healthy and how much caffeine is really in your morning coffee.

Consumer Reports recently conducted an Automobile Reliability Survey, and received over 1 million responses.  Check out the reliability charts, representing over 200 vehicles, from subcompacts to minivans.

Since winter is fast approaching, you might want to check out this month's "Road Report" section.  It includes information on the best tires for winter driving, tips for driving in snow and slush, and the answers to three common cold weather vehicle-related questions.

Other useful articles in this issue include:
  • Ratings for ranges, including tip on "how to keep your old stove going"
  • Ratings for midsize sedans
  • Ratings for outlet stores
Each branch of the Fauquier County Library has the print issues of Consumer Reports from 2010 up to the current issue.
