December 2013 Consumer Reports: Best Gifts

Most of us will be either giving or receiving some kind of electronic device this year.  The December 2013 issue of Consumer Reports has information on and ratings for just about every type of electronic device you could think of--TVs, smart phones, tablets, computers, printers, cameras, and others.  There is also a section on the 10 top electronics, rated for their innovation and performance.

While you're out shopping, you may want to stop for a snack.  Check out the article on the healthy and not-so-healthy choices at some popular eateries, including Dunkin' Dounts, Starbucks, and Cold Stone Creamery.

Since most mall-related crimes occur in parking lots, you might want to note the tips on how to protect yourself while shopping.

Are you entertaining guests this holiday season?  If so, the article on "Cures for common holiday messes" might be useful.  It has tips on how to remove candle wax from tablecloths, how to care for silver, how to dust an artificial wreath, etc.

In the "Cars" section, check out the reliability ratings for over 200 models.

Other useful articles in this issue include:
  • Ratings for cordless phones
  • Ratings for coffeemakers
  • Ratings for washers and dryers
