Dream Kitchen

The main article in the July 2013 issue of Consumer Reports is "The kitchen of your dreams."  If you've ever wanted to remodel your kitchen, check out their ideas and tips on everything from high-traffic kitchens to budget-priced kitchens.  There are also ratings for flooring, countertops, ranges and wall ovens, refrigerators, and dishwashers.

You might also want to check out "A doctor's office that is all about you"--the first article in the series "Getting Health Care Right."  This article discusses the "patient-centered medical home," which is the fastest growing innovation in medical care, and is now offered by around 10 percent of primary care practitioners in the U.S.

After last year's Superstorm Sandy, Consumer Reports polled over 8,000 subscribers about their experiences and compiled a checklist of things to do--including charge your electronic devices, get cash, make sure you have enough food, etc.  After all the storms this area has experienced in the last few years, these are good things to remember!

Other useful articles in this issue are:
  • Snack bar taste-off--Which snack bars taste good, and which ones don't?
  • Ratings for auto batteries
  • Ratings for sunscreens
  • Ratings on the best and worst airlines
  • How to keep your camera clean
Each branch of the Fauquier County Library has the print issues of Consumer Reports from 2009 up to the current issue. The Find It Virginia databases have an index to the issues from February 1, 1976 to the current issue, and the full-text of the reviews from January 1, 1999 to June 1, 2009. You can access Find It Virginia from any library computer, or from home with your valid Fauquier County Public Library card.
