Get Ready for Summer!

The June 2013 issue of Consumer Reports has a special section on the "Best buys of summer."  Check out this section if you want to know how to accident-proof your yard, and look at ratings for gas grills, sporting goods stores, and exterior paint.

Are you worried about online security?  This issue has ratings on security software for your couputer, along with an article on how to keep your phone safe from wireless threats.

Consumer Reports polled 1,000 Americans about things that bother them during a visit to the doctor.  The number one response--unclear explanations of problems.

Other useful articles in this issue are:
  • How safe is ground turkey?
  • Ratings for blood pressure monitors
  • How to save on auto insurance
  • Nursing home rights and wrongs
  • An article on distracted drivers and laws prohibiting the use of handheld cell phones and texting while driving
  • Comparison of the Mazda CX-5 and the Toyota RAV4
Each branch of the Fauquier County Library has the print issues of Consumer Reports from 2009 up to the current issue. The Find It Virginia databases have an index to the issues from February 1, 1976 to the current issue, and the full-text of the reviews from January 1, 1999 to June 1, 2009. You can access Find It Virginia from any library computer, or from home with your valid Fauquier County Public Library card.
