A New Year for MBC

A new year brings a new reading list for the Mystery Book Club. Our selections are based on a number of factors, but we always start by asking our participants for recommendations. Consideration is then given to such questions as: Have we read this author before? If so, how long ago? Is this title in the middle of a series, or can we get the first title in this series? Are we able to order multiple copies or has this work gone out of print?

In 2013 we’ll be enjoying books by some well-established authors and also by some authors relatively new to the mystery/thriller world. Familiar names include Dennis Lehane, Harlan Coben and James Lee Burke.

Those not so familiar include G M Malliet whose Wicked Autumn is the first in a series that has been described as a modern English village cozy; Alex Grecian whose first-in-series book, The Yard, evokes the style of Arthur Conan Doyle; and Attica Locke whose book, The Cutting Season, was chosen by Dennis Lehane as the first in his new line of books with HarperCollins.

Mystery Book Club’s entire year of reading is listed below. We are looking forward to lively discussions throughout 2013 and invite you to join us at noon on the third Thursday of each month.
