Electronic Gadgets Galore!

The August issue of Consumer Reports is full of information on electronic devices--E-book readers, tablets, smartphones,  laptops, and cameras.  The related article on "Beachproofing Your Gear" may be helpful for those of you heading to the beach.

Do you like pasta?  If so, check out the ratings for pasta sauce--Giada De Laurentiis's tomato basil sauce got the highest ratings.  If you prefer to eat out, check out the ratings for 102 of the biggest chain restaurants in America, organized by type of food.

If you're concerned about safety issues in your local hospital, the article "How Safe is Your Hospital?" may be of interest.  Listed are over 250 hospitals in several states (including Virginia) that were rated on infections, readmissions, complications, and other categories.

For anyone who may have missed the July issue, the article on the "Best Ways to Save Gas" and the list of cars recommended for fuel economy may be of interest.  If you're planning to remodel your kitchen anytime soon, check out the ratings for flooring, countertops, sinks, and cooking appliances.

Each branch of the Fauquier County Library has the print issues of Consumer Reports from 2009 up to the current issue.  The Find It Virginia online databases have an index to the issues from February 1, 1976 to the current issue, and the full-text of the reviews from January 1, 1999 to June 1, 2009.  You can access Find It Virginia from any library computer, or from home with your valid Fauquier County Library card.
